Laparoscopic adhesiolysis in the elderly patient

چکیده
Results For 3 (11.1%) of the 27 patients treated with laparoscopy a conversion was necessary because of the adhesions localization in the posterior abdominal wall. The median stay in hospital was 4.7 days for patients who underwent laparoscopy and 14.3 days for patients treated with traditional laparotomy. None of the first group's patients were reoperated on within 30 days of surgery, while 5 patients (3.1%) of the patients who underwent laparotomy needed to be reoperated because of obstruction recurrence by new adhesions.

متن کاملThe Role of Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis in the Treatment of Patients with Chronic Abdominal Pain or Recurrent Bowel Obstruction
BACKGROUND Major abdominal operations result in random and unpredictable scar tissue formation. Intraabdominal scar tissue may contribute to recurrent episodes of bowel obstruction, chronic abdominal pain, or both. Laparoscopic adhesiolysis may provide relief of symptoms in patients with prior abdominal surgery with chronic abdominal pain or recurrent bowel obstruction. METHODS Between Septem...

Abstract Background: Approximately 20% of patients undergoing laporotomy experience chronic post-prandial abdominal pain for months after operation. Most surgeons are wary of re-operation in this condition, and opt for conservative treatment with analgesics and sedatives. This study was performed to determine the cause of this chronic abdominal pain by means of laparoscopy. Methods: Electi...

AIM This study is to investigate the short-term outcomes of small bowel obstruction (SBO) patients undergoing laparoscopic versus open adhesiolysis. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 202 patients with SBO were enrolled in this study. The patients underwent either laparoscopic (n=101) or open adhesiolysis (n=101). The primary end point was 30-day overall complications and secondary outcomes incl...
متن کاملTwo Cases of Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis for Chronic Abdominal Pain without Intestinal Obstruction after Total Gastrectomy
Chronic abdominal pain remains a challenge to all known diagnostic and treatment methods with patients undergoing numerous diagnostic work-ups including surgery. However, the surgical treatment of patients with chronic intractable abdominal pain is controversial. There has been no discussion of the indications for adhesiolysis in cases of obstruction or strangulation of the bowel, and adhesioly...
